NDR Chamber Music Concert

Classical Music
Elbphilharmonie (Kleiner Saal), Hamburg
€24.00

The wind players of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra have a long tradition of taking on the rich literature of wind chamber music. The French repertoire from the Romantic, Impressionist and Modern periods has always played a prominent role in this field. The new programme builds a bridge from the era of Paul Taffanel, born in 1844, whose wind quintet is one of the best-known and most influential French chamber works of the 19th century, to the ironic and playful experiments of neoclassicism: to the »new simplicity« that has characterized the music of Ibert, Francaix and Poulenc since the 1920s.
