Wilhelmsburg Bicycle Tour - "Green Pearl in the River"
Discover the largest river island in Germany on our guided bike tour: Wilhelmsburg. Maritime, industrial and a bit exotic - this is Hamburg's largest district, which stretches between the Norder and Süderelbe. We make a jump "over the Elbe" and cycle through a forgotten and now awakening, wonderfully green part of Hamburg. The proximity of the water is constantly felt and so we drive along small canals, old water towers, thatched farmhouses, to find us suddenly in a beautiful meadow landscape.
With the international garden show and the building exhibition in 2013, a strong, not undisputed, impetus was given to the transformation of the Elbe island.
On our guided Wilhelmsburg bike tour we rip so topics such as forward-looking architecture & urban development, gentrification & social focus, park landscapes, port and emigration history, but also the dike and storm tide problem. All packed in entertaining stories - competent, lively, entertaining narrated and peppered with all sorts of little anecdotes.
